At the veterinary clinic Dr. Stefan, a wide range of surgical procedures can be performed (soft tissue surgery, orthopedics, thoracic and cardiac surgery, oncological surgery). These are carried out under strict aseptic conditions.
Preoperative consultations are conducted to assess and establish the surgical protocol, and the surgeon will provide important information regarding the type and significance of the procedure to be performed, as well as the postoperative recovery process.
Due to the inherent general risks of anesthesia, especially for elderly or very young patients, or those with severe or chronic concurrent illnesses, it is advisable to conduct thorough paraclinical investigations before administering anesthesia. During the surgical procedure, the patient will receive intravenous support, ensuring vital function monitoring.
After the surgery is completed, the surgeon and the owner will decide whether hospitalization and continuous monitoring of the patient are necessary.
Discharge occurs when the patient has fully awakened from anesthesia and postoperative monitoring confirms they are fit to return home safely.
Postoperatively, specific pain management therapy will be administered, taking into account the individual needs of each patient and procedure. Ensuring postoperative comfort is crucial for a swift recovery.
Postoperative check-ups are performed periodically to monitor the healing process and, if necessary, adjust the postoperative treatment.
In some cases, postoperative investigations (ultrasound for gastrointestinal and urinary surgery, X-rays for orthopedic procedures, blood tests for major organ surgeries – liver, kidneys, pancreas) are required to assess the healing progress.
